• Exchange information with the other driver. You should get his name, address, driver’s license number, and insurance information (including the policy number).
• Do not discuss the details of the accident with the other driver or any other participants. Make sure you do not admit fault for the accident to anyone around, even if you believe you were responsible for the accident.
• Cooperate fully with the police in an investigation.
• If the accident is with an unattended vehicle, attach a note to the vehicle leaving your name, address, phone number, license plate number, and insurance information. Notify the police of the accident immediately.
• Report the accident to your insurance carrier as soon as possible. Only provide a statement to your insurance company. Do not give statements to the other driver’s insurance company or to outside investigators.
• Seek medical attention for your injuries immediately.
