SFL Obtains Order Permitting Service on Foreign Defendants Via Email

We are a firm of litigators.

SFL’s international commercial litigation team recently utilized a little-known procedural tool in federal court to serve multiple European defendants by email in a million dollar lawsuit on behalf of its Spanish client.  Rather than employ more traditional methods of serving foreign parties, such as the Hague Convention, which can be a long and drawn out process, SFL partners Fausto Sanchez, Chad Purdie, and David Levine successfully moved the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida for an order allowing them to serve pleadings by way of email addresses known to be used by the Defendants in the action.  The Court agreed and entered an order authorizing such service by email.

SFL’s Complex Commercial Litigation and International Dispute Resolution Team handles a wide variety of complex commercial litigation matters in the United States for businesses and individuals located throughout the world.  For more information about SFL and its attorneys, please visit www.sfl-law.com and follow us on social media.  #SFLCaseAlerts
